The 12 DIYs of Christmas: Crochet a snowflake

December 13, 2015

Are you enjoying these #12DIYsofChristmas? I know I am!

Today’s DIY involves a bit more skill than yesterday’s but will look beautiful adorning your Christmas tree. It is, of course, the crocheted snowflake.

A few weeks ago, I went along to Stylist magazine’s ‘reclaim your lunch break’ workshop, with Love Crochet, at the amazing Drink Shop and Do. It was here that I finally learnt how to start crocheting. The lovely Emma taught me how to create the snowflake and ever since then I’ve been busy crocheting as much as I can (I certainly have the bug for it now). The above photo is my pitiful attempt but I’m hoping to improve on this in the next week or so.

The great thing about the snowflake appeal which Love Crochet were promoting is that once you make a crocheted snowflake, you can send it off to a family in need, to hang on their own Christmas tree. I’d better get making some more then, as I’d love to take part in it this year!

You will need:

A ball of wool (DK weight)

A 4mm crochet hook

To make:

The snowflake pattern is free to download here and there’s a bit more information about the whole snowflake appeal here.

Happy crocheting and don’t forget to use #12DIYsofChristmas to let me know what you’re making!
