Bias binding – it’s a beautiful thing and really adds a special touch to your work. Once you’ve learnt how to make your own, you’ll never look back and, best of all, you don’t even need anything fancy to make it with, just a few items you probably already have and your lovely fabric of choice.
I had a go at making a pinafore based on one I saw in Topshop last week. I’ll post better photos and the method once I’ve finished it and taken some photos, but I’m pretty pleased with how it has turned out so far.

Let me begin by saying that this is my go-to skirt pattern for a simple skirt that can be made in a few short hours. I love its a-line shape and I love the length – it hits me just above the knee which is a style I love. Plus, it’s sixties inspired and pretty much works with plain or printed fabric.
Can you believe I’ve actually tried to write about this pattern quite a few times? I’m not sure what happened but each time I wrote a post I was never quite happy with something and so I have a backlog of posts about the Tilly and the Buttons Delphine skirt.
If you’ve read my last post you’ll know how much I love the Sudley pattern. It’s so easy to wear and quick to make up. That’s an all-round win!
I bought the Flora dress pattern from By Hand London a while ago (around the same time I made the Vogue 8723) and it wasn’t high on my priority to make straightaway, I have to admit, as the two patterns were quite similar.
