Named Clothing Playground collection

Hot on the heels of the recent preview, Named have released their new sewing pattern collection online.

The Playground collection is inspired by the practicality and simplicity of children’s clothing but, better still, this collection is just for adults! Modern yet elegant and both simple and playful, the sewing patterns all look incredible and I can’t wait to make these up!

The collection includes dresses, tops, culottes, a wraparound playsuit, a denim jacket and even a pair of dungarees! Let’s take a look at some of the pieces.

The Reeta midi dress

Reeta_Dress Named Playground And She MadeThe Reeta midi shirt dress has a button down front, slits down the side, a slightly open front and even a drawstring waist. It’s very vintage inspired and this piece is definitely perfect for summer. There’s a lot going on here so although it would look great in a large floral print like above, making it up in a plain linen or chambray fabric would really make those design features pop too.

I love the open feel of this dress and, being a midi length, it has plenty of coverage for the warmer weather without feeling frumpy. Plus those turned up sleeves are just divine!

The Ronja dungarees

My second favourite piece of the collection is the Ronja dungarees. I’ve just written a post all about my love for dungarees and dungaree dresses recently so it’s no surprise that I’m a fan.

These ones include buttons down the side (win!) and a ring and tie closure on the front (double win!), which, in my opinion, is a really sweet design feature. The dungarees also have a lovely fringed edge which you could probably leave out if they’re not quite to your tastes. And don’t you think they’re perfect in white?

The Ansa butterfly sleeve dress

Thirdly, the Ansa butterfly sleeve dress is feminine and, quite frankly, a stunning piece. It really works in the green fabric the Named sisters have chosen (which comes from Croft Mill) and I think this pattern calls out for a drapey fabric like a viscose. I think the design of this one really speaks volumes and it would probably work best in a plain fabric to bring out the design details.

This dress really would make the perfect picnic or garden party piece and I could also imagine it working as a really special bridesmaid dress. And all the heart eyes for the sweetheart neckline and flattering fit around the waistline too!

The Playground collection is perfect for the summer. Which ones are your favourites? Let me know in the comments.

OOf, I really love those dungarees! I wish I had better sewing skills. Fixing a button is the max of my abilities at the moment! x
